Africa Inland Church Litein

Christine Africa 011

The church in Litein holds two Sunday services; one in the tribal language and the other in English. We were only able to attend the English service but honestly could hardly understand the sermon or singing because of the thick accents. :)

Sadly, a growing problem in the AIC church is a similar problem as in the US, third generation Christians. Christians who claim Christianity because their family is or to fit in with society. The realization that although statistics show 80% of Kenya is Christian, it was very sad that few of them have a personal relationship with God or even understand the Christian faith.

The church service was very formal as most everything in Kenya. We were slightly disappointed that their praise music has been dramatically influenced by Western culture to the point of it not resembling their own culture. The kids always did surprisingly well on the small wooden benches during the 2 hour services!
