When Andrew was a boy, his Grandpa Van Osdol took him to a race in their hometown of Burlignton, Iowa down Snake Alley (known as the curviest road in the country). This year Andrew decided to make the Snake Alley race his first road race! We stayed with his cousin and wife, Shane and Jen, and enjoyed visiting his Grandpa and Grandma as well as the Horn family. Andrew started in the back due to late registration (last minute Andrew! :)) but pushed his way to the front only to be knocked over in a turn. He pushed on and ended up passing most everyone he'd fallen behind finishing in the middle. I was so proud to watch him race with professional bikers from all over the nation (even one from France!). Way to go Andrew!!
While in Iowa, Andrew's Grandpa graciously sent us home with a Dodge MaxiVan Camper!! The camper was custom made and the designer passed away before ever using it. Long story short, the van has hardly ever been used (we had to take out the plastic from the fridge and microwave!). Yes, you read right. The camper comes complete with a fold out bed, running hot/cold water, refer, microwave, TV and VCR! It even has a special pull-out porta potty! We are super excited about our new toy and super thankful to Grandpa and Grandma for sharing their new toy with us!!
Of course we couldn't leave Iowa without first testing out our new camper, right? We headed a few miles out of town to a great campground with Shane, Jen and Cici. Between our retro camper and their camper bus (yep, bus!) we caught a few stares from fellow neighbors. We endured a crazy storm but thankfully the tornado decided to miss us....!
The next day I followed our camper home in the car staring at our new license plate holder that reads, "I'd rather be square dancing!"
